Stitched Science at London's Science Museum

25 and 26 June 2011

The big Stitched Science event included woolly wonders of the universe workshops to help create the world’s largest handmade Stitched Solar System, a galaxy of cosmic craft events, and the chance to teach as a Stitched Science Star.

We helped Nintendo celebrate the release of their squishy spectacular new game Kirby's Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii.

Britain's oldest knitwear designer, John Smedley, joined forces with Stitch London and sneaky stitchers Knit the City to bring you an original yarnstorm installation in John Smedley's Brook Street store.

Stitch London joined the folks at London's Natural History Museum on 27 August 2010 to bring a little stitched sealife to the world for the Deep Sea exhibition.

The Stitch a Squid event invited you to come along and learn to knit a stitched squid and featured Plarchie, the 8-metre Stitched Squid made from over 160 plastic carrier bags.

We also released six Deep Sea Escapees into the Museum.

Tiny Pigeon
 

Stitch London teamed up with the talented knitter of tiny things, Anna from Mochimochi Land, to return the pigeons to Trafalgar Square in knitted form.

The TINY PERCHING PIGEON PARTY took place on June 30 2010.

Stitch London teamed up with London’s Science Museum to create a Stitch Yourself exhibit for the re-opening of their Who Am I? gallery.

On the 30 June 2010 259 Stitched Selves from all over the world were exhibited at the Museum.

Race for Life
 

Stitch London joined the 2010 Race for Life for Cancer Research on the 13th June 2010 through the concrete course of the City of London.

We knit. We raced. We had cake after.

Knit Crawl 2010
 

The Stitch London Knit Crawl 2010 crashed through London on the 12th of June.

Stitching masses took over the Natural History Museum, the V&A, the Albert Memorial and Kensington Park's Peter Pan Statue, all in aid of the Brains Trust.

Friday 14 May 2010 saw The Hunterian Museum open its doors after hours to bring you ‘All Stitched Up!’ - a special evening of handicrafts devoted to the art of the stitch in all its forms.

Meeting You Could See from Space

Over 200 knitters and crocheters turned up to S&B London's first meeting of 2010. We taught dozens of learners and consumed more cake than the Royal Festival Hall thought possible.

We raised over £600 for Breast Cancer Care with our Breast Cancer Care Blanket.

the echoing Turbine Hall of the Tate Gallery, the hustle and bustle in the shadow of the

London Lion Scarf

S&B London wrapped 550-foot of Lion Scarf around the chilly Trafalgar Square lions on the 20th of March 2007.

We raised just under £3000 for Cancer Research.

The London Lion Scarf was knit by over 150 fabulous knitters from 15 different countries around the world.
